In our remodelled Mercedes Citaro 530, there are three fully equipped bathrooms. Each one includes a shower, a toilet, a sink and a waterproof closet with one outlet. One of said bathrooms is more spacious, with an installed ramp and a height-adjustable sink which allows the access and use for wheelchair users.
Outside the bus, an 8m x 2.5m walled awning creates a space to warm up at when it’s cold outside or for having a chat in privacy off the busy public streets.

The shower village was opened on December 24th, 2020 in cooperation with the Mitte district office and FC St. Pauli in front of the Millerntor stadium and offered shower and hygiene facilities 5 days a week. With the start of the new season of FC St. Pauli, the shower village moved to the Glacischaussee in July 2021 and ended after more than 10,000 showers on November 14th, 2022
The three bathroom containers were each equipped with a shower, toilet and sink. There was an issue for clothing & care products as well as lounge and storage areas. The whole area was fenced off for privacy and a custom made roof protected from rain and sun.

We believe that small things can change the world. A shower and a warm-hearted conversation do not make a home to those living on the streets – but overtime it might increase self-esteem and the courage to take the next steps into a self-determined life and finding a home.
We have a dream of making hygiene accessible for everyone, preferably in their own bathroom. Until this becomes reality, we drive our bus to where this access is yet to be established.
VISION «Everyone has dignified access to hygiene and society.»
PURPOSE «Everything starts with dignity. It is directly linked to the appreciation of one’s own life. That’s why we at GoBanyo stand up for the dignity of people who have to live on the streets.»
MISSION: «We are where our effectiveness is greatest – we provide access to hygiene. People who live on the streets are our neighbors. That’s why we’re local, offering support and a sense of belonging. We create a safe space where people can develop their own solutions. In addition, we ensure open exchange, acceptance and concrete improvements within the neighborhoods where GoBanyo is active. We are loud and bring issues from the streets onto the socio-political agenda. We bring about change in our own way: creatively, optimistically and cooperatively.”
